Local Area Amenities

Magdas is a quiet hamlet of twelve houses; it is visited every day except Sundays by a local bakers van. The hamlet is situated next to the river Dordou in the Grand Causses National Park, 5 kilometres from the small town of Camarés and 30 kilometres from the historic market town of Saint Affrique.

The local area is exceptional for 'Green' tourism with many paths ideal for walking, riding and cycling. Due to our location it is not necessary to use your vehicle to take advantage of these amenities. The local river offers good fishing and swimming 'in season' also the amphibians' chorus in early summer is an experience not to be missed. Nature abounds with wild boar, deer and eagles and the tranquillity of the national park lends itself to relaxing holidays. Visitors can stay in the grounds to relax and sunbathe, explore the local vicinity or visit local sites as they please.

We can assist our visitors by offering to arrange both vehicle or cycle hire through local vendors and will arrange transportation to collect and return their hired transportation. To hire vehicles remember to bring your driving licence.

Camarés is divided into an upper and a lower town. The lower town offers a range of facilities including the following:
